On the highest promontory in Northern Minnesota at the end of the Laurentian Divide sits the village of Buhl. Though known as the heart and hub of the iron mining industry on the Iron Range, Buhl’s notoriety really comes from its excellent water supply.
In the 1920’s travelers on the Iron Range would stop at Buhl for a refreshing drink of this water. To attract more tourists, the city council voted to paint a sign on the water tower that boasted, “The Finest Water on the Range”. But some of the village fathers decided that was too modest, and had “Range” replaced by “America”. The tower has read “The Finest Water in America” ever since.
Buhl Water Information
Buhl water comes from a glacial aquifer located 700 feet deep, encased in 300 feet of solid granite. Tests prove the natural purity and cleanliness of the water. It is bacteriologically free – no treating is done to the water – contains no chlorination as chlorine is one of the most prevalent carcinogens known to man. We believe that we have one of the only water supplies in the world that does not require any type of treatment or chlorination prior to human consumption. Consequently Buhl water has never been contaminated by any of the 42 man-made elements, such as insecticides, pesticides and herbicides that have permeated water supplies closer to the surface and contaminated other water supplies world-wide. Since the inception of the well in 1901, Buhl Water has never required chlorination*.
The natural blend of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron and potassium in Buhl Water contribute to it’s great unique taste and even an added healthy quality. Buhl Water is also sodium free, according to the State of Minnesota Health Department’s standards.
An independent laboratory test in Georgia rated Buhl Water 94.8 out of a possible 95 for clarity. This figure astonished them since such a rating was thought to be unattainable for a natural water source.
Such purity allows Buhl Water to be bottled directly from the source, while commercial bottled waters have to be treated to remove undesirable substances. This truly is premium water.
For 112 Years the community of Buhl has enjoyed the finest drinking water in America. Now they’re proud to share it to the world!
